Spiti Valley ~ June 2022

Spiti Valley

1500 Kms | June 2022

Ahmedabad > Chandigarh > Theog > Sangla > Tabo > Kaza > Kalpa > Jibhi >  Manali > Chandigarh

The less explored place which was my another dream after completing Ladakh was accomplished in Jun 2022. The whole road is scenic and having awesome eyecatching views. Spiti Valley is called valley of wanderers and we can visit their except during winter time. Also there are some rides which has started to visit there in winter as well but it would be more challenging because of whole cities are covered with snow during winters.

It was June which we had shortlisted and we went to Chandigarh via flight from Ahmedabad where vehicle that we had booked had come to pickup. I had chosen this time ride in vehicle (Tempo Travellers) instead bike as was accompanied by 2 years son as well as mom along with brother, bhabhi and nephew plus my neighbor family.

From Chandigarh, we went to Theog which is emerging place and resort was also good and at a nice location. There is also Taj which is built at Theog because few tourists are avoiding Shimla rush and staying Theog instead. There were yummy local fruits including Apricots, Plums etc that made mouth tasty.

And then the Spiti Circuit started where our first destination was Sangla. While going there we crossed beautiful gateway which is seen in few movies (incl.Lalsing Chandda etc.). Stay at Sangla was at nice location where river was nearby and we stepped downstairs to go there. You can simply spend hours sitting there because of peace and amazing view around. By the time you end the trip, you will definitely have thousand pictures and memories. This blog is having more pictures and probably that is the reason.

Next day we went to quick trip to Chitkul which is the last village of India. The scenic place also has got one temple where we could meet and talk with local people there.

The road further to Tabo is the one you will love to drive actually. Passing through mountains, driving parallel to river, crossing water logging and much more. That was one of the best road I have so far travelled.

Those who love to travel, ride and enjoy the surrounding would definately love this place. Off course we need to stay aware of altitude level and sickness which might be faced while travelling there and have to get fit and prepared facing it. On the way to Tabo, the driver also took us to Mummy which is stored at some place there. And a temple is under construction for the same.

Finally we reached to Tabo. We stayed at Honestay which was uniquely decorated and well maintained. Also we visited Monastery there which is very nice and seen the statue of Lord Buddha of ages ago which Monastery is nicely maintained.

Next destination was Kaza which is the main city of Spiti trip. There aredifferent places to wonder around and Monastery there located on mountain is scenic. The best view at Kaza is at night where you can see the amazing Galaxy view. We woke up at midnight to see the same and that was the best view of whole trip. Unfortunately our camera could not capture the view but is saved in our memory.
At Kaza we stayed for 2 nights where on 1 day we went for sight seeing which includes trip to Highest post office of the world, heighest village of the world, having coffee at highest restaurant in the world, Highest bridge in Asia etc. We imagine how the life of people living there would be and the tourists reaching there grom across world were making them enlightened.
Finally had a visit and climbed up to Key Monastery which is beautiful attraction of Kaza. View from there is super awesome and noice of bells, peaceful weather and Buddhism around makes you feel great. We Posted letter from world heighest post office which reached preety quickly to our home as well. World heighest fuel outlet (Indian Oil) is also in Kaza. The village during most of the months of year stays covered under snow. Homestay there and food was good. There are good restaurants, ATM and market serving necessities there. I also bought beautiful Mug cup from there having design of dragon and local thing there. For friends, we bought flag and few other items.

Then we avoided visit to ChandraTal because of kid and senior citizen with us. Therefore we started way back to Kinnaur which is having holy importance i.e. view of Kinner Kailash is visible from there in clear atmosphere. We witnessed the same with plenty of apples around the gardens. There is also a spot named Suicide Point at Kinnaur which is now covered with grill.
Kinner Kailash is the place where god used to have meetings as per talk there and the mountain is visible from Kinnaur. We were lucky enough to witness the beauty when clouds allowed us to witness the same.

And then we moved to final destination before Manali which is Jibhi. It is all together different then snowy mountains etc. Jibhi is heaven for nature lovers. There were rainshowers on the way and through tiny roads, we thoroughly enjoyed beauty of nature. Homestay was also at nice place and we walked down the waterfall there which was scenic. You can definately walk for a long when you are in middle of nature. We enjoyed the stay. Also apples are speciality there and we could get some small apples which were yummy.

Last destination was Manali which many people willbe loving to stay there. We enjoyed different activities like river crossing etc. Also food at Mall Road Manali is great. it is always live atmosphere there and we loved eating Momos, Softy Ice cream, Chaat etc. there which were yummiest.
From Manali, we were dropped back to Chandigarh with bucketful of lifelong memories, thousands of pictures and things. I loved accomplishing my another dream of going Spiti. Will get back with further trips updates as and when. Keep viewing and liking till then..
